Part of a four-storey building near the Toulouse city's Matabiau rail station collapsed and guests from a neighbouring hotel were also evacuated when a blaze errupted through a four-storey apartment building in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The fire broke out at around 2:40 a.m. local timen the bottom floor. Twenty-two people were injured, two critically. Two firemen were among the casualties in the fire on Rue Bayard. The fire spread very quickly through the lift shift with great violence. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear. Over 110 firefighters battled the fire. The blaze had been brought under control by daybreak.
