The train that left Sibari could not avoid the impact and run directly in the Fiat Multipla which was thrown 20 meters away. The six people from the car died and the only two survivors were two men who got out of the car in order to open the gates from the railway crossing.

Police got to the place of the accident and could not recover the bodies of the victims for hours because of the violent nature of the collision. The people from the Fiat Multipla were apparently Romanian workers. They were working in Clementine Orchards and the car was transporting them back from the Clementine farm. The Romanian consulate declared it will help the family of each victim if needed.
