Comedian Russell Brand, 48, who runs now a yoga and mental health-orientated YouTube channel and launched a podcast, has been accused of rape, sexual assaults and emotionally abusing four women between 2006 and 2013, while he was a presenter for BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4. The allegations say that he raped a woman at his Los Angeles home. However, specific details regarding the allegations have not been disclosed. In a video posted to social media he denied the accusations and insisted his relationships were “absolutely always consensual”. The comedian and actor said he “absolutely refutes” the allegations against him.

In his video, Brand decried “coordinated media attacks.” Channel 4 positioned itself sayig: „Today, Channel 4 has a zero-tolerance approach to unacceptable behaviour and has a robust Code of Conduct. […] We will be asking the production company who produced the programmes for Channel 4 to investigate these allegations and report their findings properly and satisfactorily to us.” Elon Musk, the owner of X, formerly known as Twitter, responded to Brand’s two-minute video, saying: “Of course. They don’t like competition.” Brand was married to the US pop star Katy Perry from 2010 to 2012 and is now married to Laura Gallacher, the sister of the presenter Kirsty, and the couple have two children.
