Incident with an armed man but no victims at a bowling in Nuneaton’s Bermuda Park


Witnesses said he was not speaking to anyone in particular but had a “very aggressive demeanour”. According source, it was believed an ex-husband or a boyfriend of a member of staff.. After most people managed to leave the bowling alley, they remained outside the premises as they waited for police to arrive. The complex includes a cinema, children’s soft play centre and a gym. It was on lockdown. The restaurant was also put on lockdown. Customers at a nearby Odeon cinema were kept inside the theatre.

All roads were blocked by police. An ambulance, two paramedic officers, the Hazardous Area Response Team, and an emergency planning manager were at the scene. The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance was initially dispatched but has since left the scene. Around 30 armed police officers attended the scene. Police used stun grenades. The suspect was arrested and taken to hospital, and the two employees were unharmed. The incident was not terror-related, according to officers. ‘We are pleased that we were able to bring this incident to a peaceful resolution and that there were no injuries,” Warwickshire Police Chief Superintendent Alex Franklin-Smith said.
