Several people killed in a firearm incident in Plymouth, southwest England


A “serious firearms incident” occurred on Thursday evening in Biddick Drive ,Plymouth, southwest England. At least five people including a young child have been killed. The offender was also found dead. Several other casualties received treatment. The area has been cordoned off . Road closures were in place. Police declared that this is not a terrorism-related incident. The shooter kicked in the door of a home at about 6:10 p.m. local time then gunned down a woman and her young daughter before randomly opening fire on other people in the streets of Plymouth, officials said. Two of the victims may have been walking their dogs. South Western Ambulance Service said it had responded to the incident with a significant number of resources. British media said witnesses had reported hearing loud bangs and gunshots before police swamped the area.


There were few official details released about the by authorities, including how the alleged shooter was killed. Gun-related homicides are not common in the United Kingdom. Videos of the incident were posted on social media. Police and the Government asked everyone to stay calm and not to speculate. „Please obey all instructions from the Police and do not post rumour or speculation on social media.” Many representatives from the national media were on the scene in Plymouth. Parliament Member Johnny Mercer shared his condolences after the incident.
