A huge blaze engulfed a residential tower block in London

Police transmitted them to force escape covering their mouths with a wet cloth but it seems it was not possible. Residents from blocks surrounding Grenfell Tower were asked  to evacuate. The London Ambulance deployed resources – over 20 ambulance crews – at the site. In a few hours, the fire which occurred shortly before  1am engulfed the entire building. Flames and smoke were shooting from windows. There were fears the building would collapse. At least 200 firefighters and 45 engines are on the scene

People in the area have panicked and posted footage on Twitter describing the blaze. Many of them The Grenfell Tower block was subject of a major £10 million refurbishment last year, funded by the Kensington council. The tower block was built in 1974 and contained 120 homes, managed by the Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organization. London Fire Brigade say there is no known cause at the moment for the blaze. No exact number of injured was specified and there is no official info about the existence of trapped persons.

Update:

At least 50 injured people were taken to hospital. Several people have died.A “significant number of people” remain unaccounted for.Some residents of Grenfell Tower have claimed that fire alarms did not go off inside the building.  Scotland Yard said it was “likely to take some time before we are in a position to confirm the cause of the fire”.

UPDATE 2:

Death toll has risen to 12, according police.Pockets of fire were still blazing at west London’s Grenfell Tower, more than 16 hours after first reports of fire.Officials declined to  say how many people were missing.
