The President Francois Hollande decided to pardon an old woman who killed husband


. Aged now 69, Jacqueline Sauvage had been serving a 10-year sentence at Reau prison, to the south-east of Paris. “I’ve decided to grant Jacqueline Sauvage a pardon of the rest of her sentence. This pardon puts an immediate end to her detention,” the French President announced. Virginie Duval, the head of the French union of magistrates, complained that the president had acted “to please public opinion.” Ms Sauvage had been brutally treated throughout her 47 years  marriage by her husband Norbert Marot. and two of her three daughters were sexually abused. On September 2012 her son committed suicide. After, on the folloing day, she picked up a gun and shot her husband.
