A new earthquake – magnitude 6.6 – in central Italy, near Norcia


The clock tower into the main piazza in Norcia  appeared about to crumble. Another church collapsed in Tolentino Many people in the area still had been sleeping in cars or evacuated to shelters or hotels in other areas after a pair of strong jolts last Wednesday. Ussita and Castelsantangelo sul Nera, also suffered new damage. “There are no towns left. Everything came down ,” communicated Arquata Mayor Aleandro Petrucci. The quake was felt throughout the Italian peninsula, from Bari to Bolzano. Even in the Rome residents rushed into the streets. The metro in the city was shut down for safety checks in case of damage. Buildings collapsed in many cities.The quake was felt in Croatia and Slovenia.
