The explosives were detonated just before the security checkpoint in the international terminal. Blast occurred at the entrance of international flights terminal. People were running for cover inside the terminal building. Authorities said no bombs exploded within the airport building itself. The airport was closed. The coming flight were diverted. Scheduled flights were being grounded and that passengers were being taken to local hotels. Witnesses have said at least four people were involved in the attack. It is still unknown who is responsible for the attack. Turkish officials said that police officers attempted to neutralize the attack. There are no indications of any American casualties at this point. Recent bomb attacks in Turkey have been linked to Kurdish separatists or the so-called Islamic State group. More than 61 million passengers traveled using the airport in 2015.
