Should robots pay taxes in Europe ?

“Ultimately, there is a possibility that within the space of some decades artificial intelligence might surpass human intellectual capacity in a manner which, if not prepared for, could pose a challenge to humanity’s capacity to control its own creation and consequently perhaps also to its capacity to be in charge of its own destiny and to ensure the survival of its species.”

However, regulatory measures are pointed into another direction: the proposal is to classify robots as “electronic persons” and to ask their owners to pay social security on their robot workers’ behalf. It will be interesting to observe how 751 members of the European Parliament will discuss about this and what will be their decision. It must be observed that a lot of important problems, including the big one of the refugees, had not yet the appropriate solution. Should be humans less important than robots ?
