Deutsche Bahn plans to add driver-less cars to its mass transit network

But DB’s big plans don’t stop here. The trains will be also fully automated in the future. There will no longer be the need to have a dispatcher that instructs the train engineer where to take the train. A computer will be able to do this task as instructed by a central computer which will be located in Deutsche Bahn’s operations center.

The plans for automation are so big that DB is keen to compete with companies like Uber. DB’s new driver-less cars will go and pick up even travelers that live in urban areas where a train might not be practical. No matter if train stations are too far away. DB could thus be the first to introduce a fully automated multi-modal transit system — from train to car.
