Merkel is insisting “we will manage” the influx of newcomers and says it’s not feasible to seal off Europe in the Internet age. For the instant, the cooperation with Turkey wasn’t possible. EU government leaders agreed last month to share responsibility for 160,000 asylum seekers already in the EU, redistributing them from Greece and Italy over two years. However, the Hungarian prime minister, Viktor Orban, accused Merkel of “moral imperialism.” Other European countries have also a moderated position regarding the acceptance of many refugees. Actually, more than 2 million Syrians are being hosted in Turkey. Plan is that Europe would be financing large refugee camps in some countries as Turkey agreeing to take large but unspecified numbers of refugees from them directly into Europe.
