The driver of the truck was also killed. The bus driver had survived the crash and saved lives because he opened the bus doors so that people would be able to save. Only eight people escaped the flames but where injured. Statistically, it was France’s worst road accident since 1982. Soon after the accident the Prime Minister, the minister of interior and transport secretary of state were all headed to the scene of the accident. French President François Hollande called the accident “a great tragedy” and promised solidarity of the whole nation.
