A German Airbus A320 from Barcelona crashed in France

The accident happened in a very difficult area to access. Unauthorized source told to the media that debris had been spread over a large area. The pilots descended rapidly from a cruising altitude of 38,000 feet, after declaring an emergency without details, while flying over the town of Barcelonnette in the Alpes de Haute Provence region. “The conditions of the accident, which have not yet been clarified, suggest that there might not be any survivors,” declared the President of France, François Hollande.

As it is known at this time, many of the victims were German. German air safety experts are on the way to the crash site. Germanwings has an excellent safety record with no previously reported accidents. French President Francois Hollande has spoken briefly with German Chancellor Angela Merkel to express solidarity following the crash. Spain’s King Felipe and his wife are in France on a scheduled visit and are meeting Mr Hollande.
