According to many sources, this was not linked to terrorism and especially to the recent events in Paris. Members of special French RAID forces secured the area next to the post office. A helicopter has been deployed to the area of Charles-de-Gaulle boulevard where the post office is situated. After negotiations, the assailant handed himself over to police. The hostages was released. According to the local prefecture, which issued a statement after the man was investigated, he was ” disappointed in love”. Witnesses told he already was “speaking incoherently”. Earlier in the day, Paris police evacuated the Gare de l’Est train station and the gare was closed as precaution on Friday after a bomb threat.
