The local police said to the media that: “They are being questioned concerning a theft that took place at a hotel they are staying at. Along with Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Mariya Alyokhina all the hotel’s guests are being questioned.”
Sochi is 30 km north of the main Olympic venues and apparently this incident is not linked to any security concern about the Olympic Games. However, posting on Twitter, Tolokonnikova described Sochi as a “police town”.
Maria and Nadezhda continued to manifest their critical attitude against the President Putin since their release from the prison before Christmas in 2013. However, they had not manifested yet any protest in Sochi before being taken in by the authorities.
