As it is supposed, in 2014 Merkel will focus on domestic policies. Some big problems must be clarified, including the switch from nuclear to renewable energy, as previously proposed. Other measures attempted by the German society are concerning more generous payouts for the mothers and exceptions to the 67-year retirement age and a new level of the minimum wage, of 8.50 Euros per hour.
On Wednesday morning, Merkel will address the parliament on EU issues. In the next days she will meet the French President Francois Hollande and will attend the EU summit in Brussels.
