About 10,000 homes were evacuated in Norfolk and Suffolk in eastern England. Several homes collapsed into the sea at Hemsby, England. Even the Thames Barrier was closed to protect London. In Poland, at least 400,000 homes do not have electricity. Similar situations are in Sweden and Norway. The port of Hamburg was closed last night. Winds up to 228 km/h affected Scotland.
The north Wales residents had to be rescued by lifeboat crews. The Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier in the low-lying Netherlands was closed and the warning of possible floods was set to the highest possible level. Floods also happened in Dordrecht and Rotterdam.
