Vice chair of the Prison Officers Association had the following to say: "As time is moving on, you’re getting increasingly concerned that force is going to have to be used by tornado teams to resolve the situation"

The situation worries authorities even more especially considering the fact that all people sent to HMP Maidstone have more than 18 months to serve. The inmates are considered to be dangerous and a riot of these proportions can't be stopped so quickly.

While Kent Police knew about the incident a spokeswoman declared that prison services are the ones dealing with the now contained situation.
