A rapid rescue intervention was deployed at the accident scene: police, helicopters and ambulances, firefighters and paramedics arrived to help.

The cause of the crash was not yet discovered. “At the moment we don’t have any information about” said Reto Schaerlo, the spokesman of the Swiss Federal Railway.
An interruption of the train service between Payerne and Moudon occurred, due to the requirements of the clearance operations in the area and the rehabilitation of the railways.

Worldwide this train accident comes shortly after the known big rail accident from Spain (which killed 79) and a crash near Paris (killing another 7 people).
