The Queen is said to have been in good spirit as she shared a smile with those who had congregated to see her leaving the hospital. The hospitalization of the 86-year-old monarch raised concern because it was the first time in the past decade that she had been hospitalized. The last time she had been hospitalized was in 2003 when she underwent a knee surgery.
Her husband, Prince Philip, has been hospitalized three times from December 2011 to August 2012; on one occasion to treat a blocked coronary artery and on two occasions to treat a bladder infection.
The unexpected illness saw the Queen cancel all her engagements this week including a scheduled trip to Wales this Saturday. The Queen will be turning 87 this April and last year she had celebrated her 60th anniversary while still on throne.
