Controversial law bans skinny models in Israel

While the models argue that they don’t have any kind of health problems although their body mass index is below the minimum required the law was not only meant to protect their health but of the teens that aspire to be like them too.

Furthermore, photos that illustrate models cannot be photoshopped anymore or in case the photos are digitally modified they must state so on top of the photo.

The vice president of a center that offers treatment for eating disorders applauded the initiative from Israel but eventually concluded: “I think it’s an approach that isn’t going to work”. There are many people that welcome the law. Physician Rachel Adatto agrees and supports the law: “This law is another step in the war against eating disorders”. According to Adatto skinny models can no longer serve as role models for innocent young people who adopt and copy the illusion of thinness.
