People in New Delhi and from other parts of India held wide-spread protests against the brutal beating and gang rape of the twenty three year old student. The protesters asked that the rapist get all the death penalty.
Women from India face harassment every day and this rape did nothing more than to highlight the current situation. Indian women are often blamed for causing sexual violence when in most cases they are innocent.
The rape victim was first sent to the Safdarjang Hospital where she was on ventilator support. Her condition was very bad and now after her condition worsened late Wednesday a team of doctors advised that the girl is sent to Singapore to a well renowned hospital. Mount Elizabeth hospital from Singapore is well known for its multi-organ transplant facilities and although the transportation time is close to five hours and a half medics say it is well worth it.
