Park Geun-hye elected first female President of South Korea


The victorious female candidate is a 5-term lawmaker and is a daughter of an ex-dictator who promised to complete every promise she made while campaigning for the presidency.

Keeping promise and support received during the campaign the newly elected President said that she getting elected will certainly open a new era.
She was handed over a bouquet of flowers after leaving the stage to the cheers of the supporters.  Park gave no formal victory speech.

76 percent turnout of the voters was comparatively higher as it surpassed the turnout of last two Presidential elections. 
Voters went out to vote wearing winter clothes and waited in long lines to enter the polling stations. After the publication of the results, ecstatic response was received from the supporters.
