An important Indian actor cleared debt for 1,398 farmers in his country

has cleared more than $560,000 worth of debt owed by 1,398 farmers in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, where Bachchan was born, by paying off their debt.”Gratitude leans across to the desire of removing some of the burdens that farmers continue to suffer from…and the inner peace it generates when the desired is completed,” Bachchan wrote. More than 50% of India’s population is involved in the agricultural and allied sector but Indian farmers have battled against a variety of hardships in recent years, brought about by a combination of monsoon-damaged crops, rising fuel costs and lack of adequate state support. 11,772 farmers across India committed suicide in 2013 after they have fallen into debt.

Poor Indian farmer

Bachhan’s initiative was for the instant more efficient than Indian government’s measures to help farmers even if Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to boost the country’s agriculture sector with a target of doubling the income of farmers by 2022. Bachchan has won many awards at international film festivals and award ceremonies including four National Film Awards as Best Actor. He appeared in over 190 Indian films. He has won fifteen Filmfare Awards where he is the most nominated performer in any major acting category, with 41 nominations.
