A blast near a kindergarten in China killed 7, wounded dozens including children

It sent people flying several meters (yards) into the air.  Nobody said what caused the explosion. Only later was supposed that ‘gas cylinders’ produced deflagration, possibly at a nearby food store. It was not clear whether the explosion was an accident or was deliberately set. Photos posted on social media showed children and adults lying on the ground. Clothing, shoes and other items were strewn on the ground.

Emergency crew at the scene of the blast

The gate of the kindergarten appeared to have been horribly bent. A video also showed ambulances arriving and medical personnel wheeling people into an emergency room. The explosion was under investigation. Kindergartens in China have been targeted before. That has prompted a tightening of security around many schools. However, an explosion of this magnitude was rare. The reported number of injured was 59, now. Fengxian, in eastern China’s Jiangsu province, it’s home to 1.2 million people.
