Three suicide bombers detonated their explosives back-to-back in a devastating deflagration. Some high-ranking officials including the government’s chief executive Abdullah Abdullah and the acting foreign affairs minister Salahuddin Rabbani were included in attendance. President Ashraf Ghani wrote on Twitter that the “country was under attack.” He asked people to be strong and united. The Taliban denied the involvement in this cemetery bombing. The Kabul Garrison Commander and the deputy minister of interior Murad Ali Murad confirmed at television that the threat level in Kabul was and remains extremely high. Some leaders criticized the failure to protect the funeral. Previously the Government was asked to step down, during demonstrations in the street.
