As part of the new “security measures” Google’s search engine and Gmail’s email service will be blocked. No further details were provided.
Iran’s decision comes in a moment of tension between the country and Google. Earlier this month Google refused to take down an anti-Islamic movie from a YouTube channel. According to an Iranian News Agency this film caused a lot of outrage throughout the Muslim world.
Iran is known to have the world biggest Internet filters where many websites are blocked on offensive or criminal reasons. The newly domestic Iranian system will be fully implemented by March 2013.
