According to Senior Superintendent Sergio Soriano Jr. of the Bureau of Fire Protection, the fire started at about 6 p.m. on Wednesday and was caused by a power saw in the factory. About 35 fire trucks responded to the fire. The fire spread quickly because of flammable materials in the factory. The fire still raged almost 24 hours after it started. Cavite Gov. Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla announced that local government units are ready to extend their help to the victims of the fire. The HTI facility, where housing materials for export to Japan are manufactured, occupies 6 hectares in the Cavite EPZA.
