Two passenger trains collided in Iran’s north-central province of Semnan, on Iran


Aid workers at the location said a number of the injured are in critical condition. Fatalities and casualties expected to rise. Rescue teams have been dispatched to the site of accident. “Three helicopters has reached the scene,” said local head of the Red Crescent Hasan Shokrollahi. Reports gave no details on the number of passengers in the trains. About 100 passengers had been rescued. The derailed carriages were on fire. Firefighters were trying to control the blaze. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collision. The Islamic nation plunged into mourning. In a countries top regarding train accidents number annually, Iran is on the sixth place, after India.
