A suicide bombing attack at Baqir ul Olum mosque in Kabul killed 32


At least several children’s bodies were among the victims.The attacker entered the Baqir ul Olum mosque and detonated a suicide vest among a crowd of people, on the first floor of the mosque.“ I saw the mosque was full of flesh and blood,”a survivor said. Government chief executive Abdullah Abdullah called the attack a “war crime and an act against Islam and humanity”, “a sign of barbarism and cruelty.” He promised that “security forces will hold the perpetrators accountable by bringing them to justice.” The US Embassy in Kabul said the attack was “another demonstration of contempt for religious tolerance and communal harmony by the enemies of peace and progress.” The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has been also blamed for previous attacks targeting minority Shiites in Kabul which makes up an estimated 15 percent of the country’s population of around 30 million.
