Attackers used grenades too. The State Department announced Thursday no Americans were killed or wounded. 18 people wounded in the attack, including five women, had been admitted at Kabul’s Emergency Hospital.The attack was described as “complex” by Afghan police forces. Both gunmen involved in the assault were also killed. There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the attack. The university has more than 1,000 students currently enrolled. The US State Department condemned the attack. This attack was the second time in less than three weeks that the American University has been targeted by militants.
The first students of the American University of Afghanistan enrolled in March 2006. Students from all 34 provinces of Afghanistan are now enrolled. The American University of Afghanistan currently offers four-year undergraduate degree programs in business administration with concentrations in management, accounting, finance and marketing, information technology and computer science, and political science and public administration.
