51 degrees Celsius (123.8 degrees Fahrenheit) temperature registered in India


This is a new record in the country in  the Thar desert, which typically records the highest temperatures in India. (The previous temperature record in India was held by Alwar, also in Rajasthan, at 50.6 degrees Celsius (123.1 Fahrenheit) in 1956.) A red-level alert for Rajasthan as well as for other states like Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. The meteorological department said the heatwave condition would further aggravate in next couple of days. State governments estimate more than 370 people killed at this moment. More than 2,500 died in the summer last year.The highest temperature ever was recorded Guinness Book of World Records at 56.7 degrees Celsius (134 degrees Fahrenheit) in Death Valley, California on July 10, 1913.
