In late 2013, Chinese officials announced a major reform that allowed couples in which one of the parents was an only child to have a second baby. Now, the country needs more active people. This time, however, it seems something changed. Like many couples in the West, a fair number of Chinese couples, particularly in urban areas, appear to have decided that having a second child is too expensive or too much trouble. A non official poll on on the Chinese social media platform Weibo conducted Thursday night showed 62% out of 30,000 respondents saying they would like to have a second child.
