The accident occurred over a bridge while crossing a track that was flooded by heavy monsoon rains. Six coaches from the Kamayani Express and the engine and four coaches from the Janata Express had derailed. Dozens of trains have been blocked from moving due to the accident. Divisional Railway Manager, Bhopal Junction and branch officers assisted rescue operations. “Heartfelt condolences to the families of those who died in the train accident near Harda in MP. NDRF teams have been rushed to the spot,” Home Minister Rajnath Singh said. “According to reports, there was a possible burst in a nearby dam, which caused sudden flow of water on the tracks and that resulted in the derailment,” Railway Board Chairman A.K. Mittal transmitted. Several passengers have been rescued and sent to the nearest station.
