Chinese President wants art to be more controlled politically

Definition of the art as comprised by the Chinese President was revealed saying: “Fine art works should be like sunshine from blue sky and breeze in spring that will inspire minds, warm hearts, cultivate taste and clean up undesirable work styles.” He added soon that works of the art should present patriotism and “correct” viewpoints of history, nationality and culture. After the relaxation of the art control from the 1970’s, this message is so different that caused an immediate comparison with an 1942 speech by Mao Zedong totally involved in the Communist cause.

Is clearly however that the actual directions in the Chinese art can’t be limited to only a few imposed subjects. Artists react with their own creative methods and some of them are direct opponents to the government’s policies. One of them, Ai Weiwei, is considered the most known Chinese artist around the world and it’s an critic of the Chinese government.
