Central government ministries and agencies are required to meet the target in two years. As a consequence of this decision, the electric automaker BYD Co. climbed 3.6 percent to HK$48.90 in Hong Kong trading. All public institutions in China will be required to add parking spaces reserved for new-energy vehicles. The automobile industry in China has also begun to develop a large and reputable electrical vehicle sector, supported by both the private and public sector. The Chinese government has developed a plan to make China one of the leading producers of electric and hybrid vehicles by 2012. The infrastructure to deliver energy to serve the electric vehicles is also developed. Energy efficiency using electric cars is 46% higher than that of internal combustion engines.
