Another person, an American nurse, was wounded in the attack. The attacker was a member of the Afghan Public Protection Force assigned to guard the hospital. His motivation to do this is unknown and only suppositions exist about a possible link with Taliban’s actions in this country, exacerbated now surrounding the April 5 presidential election. He was wounded during the attack. He was shot by other security forces, said Ministry of Interior spokesman Sediq Sediqqi.
The Cure International Hospital, focused on maternity and pediatric, was founded in 2005 and it’s affiliated with the Christian charity Cure International, which operates in 29 countries with the motto “curing the sick and proclaiming the kingdom of God.” The hospital has about 37,000 patients a year. The at Cure International Hospital in western Kabul was the third attack on foreign civilians in Afghanistan’s capital this year.
