China had sent its first astronaut into space in 2003. Its space program is military backed. Now, China is one of the three countries that had sent humans in space, after Russia and the US.
China has made considerable progress in his space program. A Chinese unmanned spacecraft stayed in space for 16 months to a Moon orbit in 2007. A further step in the space plan of China is to put a permanent manned station above the Earth.
