China needs to protect its medical staff against violence in the hospitals

In fact, only in 2012, attacks on medical staff in China killed seven people and other 28 were injured. Investigations and surveys in hundreds of hospitals revealed that the violence occurs if the treatment is unsatisfactory, if the patients’ expenses are too much but at the same time as a consequence of a poor doctor – patient communication.
In a real crisis situation, about 40 percent of the medical staff plans to give up their profession. The Chinese minister of health thinks that an independent agency to handle medical malpractice disputes must exist in the country.
To prevent immediately dangerous situations, many urban hospitals have bought helmets and anti-stab vests both for the security guards and the personnel. China plans to have soon severe security rules in its hospitals soon.
