“Upon preparing to land at Pakse airport the aircraft ran into extreme bad weather conditions and was reportedly crashed into the Mekong River” said in a statement the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Laos. It seems the plane crashed at only 4-5 miles from the airport at Pakse.
The Lao Airlines acquired the plane from the production line in March, this year.
Rescuers were immediately sent in action in the area but no plane wreckage was initially visible.
The passengers were from Laos, Vietnam, Australia, Canada, China, France, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States.
Pakse is a popular destination for tourists in Laos. The principal objectives to be visited are the coffee plantations of the Bolaven Plateau and the former royal principality of Champasak.
The Communist government of Laos and the police stations have a secretive attitude about this tragic accident and they didn't answer to any of the journalists' calls.
