Officials including Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered survivors to be helped and asked to investigate the cause of this disaster event.
It was the third major industrial blaze in China in the past four days due to lax enforcement of safety requirements.
The fire broke out in a factory where chickens were being dismembered. It spread quickly and people had too little time to save their life. The workers, mostly women, found doors that turned out to be locked or blocked.
The damaged factory is owned by Jilin Baoyuanfeng Poultry Co. This is a major producer of processed chicken.
Accidents and chemical spills are common in China’s factories. “I think safety is not the first priority in their design plan” said after event Jason Yan, technical director in Beijing of the U.S. Grains Council
