Boko Haram fighters opened fire when the students were still sleeping in the dormitory. Some students were burned alive. Most of them were found in the jungle and died of bullet wounds. The attackers went to the female dormitories and told the young women to go home, get married and abandon the Western education. All the school’s buildings were burned to the ground.
Boko Haram group is sustaining even by their name that “Western education is sinful.” They killed more than 300 people only this month. Two attacks occurred in the last week. In one of them a whole village was razed. Boko Haram was previously declared a terrorist organization by Nigeria and the United States.
The actual attack was condemned by President Goodluck Jonathan. He appreciated the facts as “callous and senseless murder (…) by deranged terrorists and fanatics who have clearly lost all human morality and descended to bestiality.” The US secretary of State Jon Kerry condemned Boko Haram for “unspeakable acts of terror.” The Nigerian military is now pursuing the killers.
