Amazon introduces high quality music streaming to the masses

It later plans to expand. In the U.S., the streaming service will cost $12.99 per month for Amazon Prime members, or $14.99 for regular customers. Amazon says people are going to have access to over 50 million high-resolution tracks at CD quality and better, thanks to support for 16-bit files and sample rates of 44.1kHz and above. The service also includes includes hi-res audio streaming at up to 24-bit/48kHz (or 96 to 192kHz), in case the user needs the absolute highest quality possible. The new service will be available on  Amazon Music app. Amazon is offering new subscribers a free 90-day trial to Music HD.

Amazon has spent a lot of time talking to consumers and artists, who both agree they want a better, higher quality listening experience. Amazon’s music service did reportedly have more than 32 million subscribers as of this past April. „“Earth will be changed forever,” Rock legend Neil Young said, related to the new Amazon’s product. The only other big music service that offers high-definition streaming is Tidal, at a cost of at least $20 a month. At this time Spotify remains the global leader in music streaming, however.
