Apple issued a voluntary recall for a "limited number" of older 15-inch MacBook Pros because their battery may overheat and pose a safety risk.
It’s about the 15-inch MacBook Pros sold between September 2015 and February 2017. The battery will be replaced free of charge. „Customer safety is always Apple's top priority,” the company said. To verify the eligibility for the battery replacement, the owners of the 15-inch MacBook Pros are requested to introduce the serial number of the product in a form at the company’s website. If it is found eligible, the device will be sent to an Apple Repair Center for service. This worldwide Apple program doesn't extend the standard warranty coverage of the 15-inch MacBook Pro.
The 15-inch MacBook Pros has Touch Bar with integrated Touch ID sensor, an ambient light sensor, a retina display with true tone technology, an 2.6GHz 6-core Intel Core i7 or an 2.3GHz 8-core Intel Core i9 and 16GB of 2400MHz DDR4 onboard memory. The battery is a 83.6-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery supporting up to 30 days of standby time. Operating temperature is 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C).
