The surge in sales can be attributed to the launch of new tablet devices by Apple during the second or the fourth quarter. The final quarter of this year saw the release of two Apple tablets viz. Apple iPad 4 and iPad Mini.
According to projections by Sameer Singh, the shipments would have ranged somewhere around 22.7 million had the newly release iPad Mini were not unveiled. With the release of iPad Mini, the figure is expected to range between 24 to 26 million this quarter. Of that estimate, iPad Mini will contribute by 6 to 7 million units. The remaining figures will be contributed by the new iPad, the original iPad and iPad 2. The figures are expected to drop in the next quarter.
