The main difference is that Marketplace will be more like Craiglist but more targeted. Facebook will utilize its user network to promote these new ads based on category and user interest. The new Marketplace ads can also include links and photos. Facebook users that will see the Marketplace ads can then “share” the ad within a post on their timeline if they like the ads presented to them. This is somehow similar with how news stories are shared on Facebook now.
Promoted posts and marketplace ads have a slightly different appearance. Marketplace ads are targeted, as Facebook will display marketplace ads only to those users for which the ads are considered relevant. Ads won’t be only about buying and selling. Users will also be able to share ideas by posting tips and information about a wide variety of topics.
