A new Kindle Oasis, launched now by Amazon, is waterproof and has a battery life that can be measured in weeks instead of hours. If ordered today, it will be released in October 31, is the promise.
But be warned, it sells for $249.99 for the 8GB model and goes to $350 for a 32GB model with cellular connectivity, which has all-you-can-eat cellular data for the lifetime of the device included in that price.. It has more features than the previous versions. What that means ? It has Audible built in and will support fast charging. It can go from 0 to 100% in two hours, and that charge will last for weeks at a time.
Kindle Oasis has a bigger screen (7-inch, 300 pixel-per-inch ) and an aluminum back. The new Oasis tapers down to 3.4mm at its thinnest point and weighs in at 194 grams (6.8 ounces). The new dual-core 1GHz processor (with 512MB of RAM) is the zippiest too, giving slightly faster page turns. The new lighting scheme now features 12 LEDs instead of the 10 found on the original Oasis. No headphone jack, but there is Bluetooth connectivity that allows to connect the new Oasis to a Bluetooth headphone or speaker. In a few words, this is the most advanced ever Kindle device, the Amazon itself says. And it's not all: the new Oasis offers 14 total font sizes, plus five boldness levels. The all-new Kindle Oasis comes in two storage options: 8 GB and 32 GB. It's your choice to decide knowing 8 GB is enough for quite a few books. Amazon's Kindle turns 10 this year.
