“We project Galaxy S8 shipments of 40-45mn units in 2017F, implying slower momentum compared to Galaxy S7 in 2016 (around 52mn units shipped),” the note said. A full-screen display with no physical home button, a 3D-curved cover glass, ambient light sensor (ALS), IR-LED transmitter, and receiver for iris-scanner recognition, front camera, and receiver are some particularities of the Galaxy S8. The note also claims 8-megapixel front camera alongside 12-megapixel rear camera. The device will have a 6.2-inch QHD+ (2400×2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display and a 3500mAh battery. It will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC in the US, Japan, and China, and the Exynos 8895 SoC in Europe and the rest of Asia. The new smartphone will come with 4GB of RAM in most regions, but China and South Korea will see the option of 6GB of RAM. It will be available in Gold, Silver, Bright Black, Matte Black, Blue, Orchid, and Pink colour variants, being on sale on late April. The USB Type-C connectivity will create a mini computer interface when connected to a monitor. 40 to 45 million shipments are expected in 2017.
