Runkeeper, Trello  and Yahoo webmail are also suffering. Among some of the services impacted are various YouTube-linked apps. This outage has knackered half the internet. The S3 outage is due to “high error rates with S3 in US-EAST-1,” according to Amazon’s AWS service health dashboard and the company also says it’s working on “remediating the issue.” It has to recover from a cockup at a facility in Virginia, US, that is causing its S3 cloud storage to fail. Amazon S3 is used by around 148,213 websites, and 121,761 unique domains, so by 0.8 percent of the top 1 million websites. Amazon launched S3 on its fifth publicly available web service, in the United States in March 2006] and in Europe in November 2007.
